Roller coasters can remove kidney stones

Now there is finally a more enjoyable treatment of kidney stones. Recent research has shown that one can possibly avoid invasive interventions by taking a ride on a roller coaster, as this can lead to smaller kidney stones loosening in a natural way.

Kidney stones are caused by minerals and salts in the urine that accumulate and form blockages. The diagnosis is made according to where the blockage occurs and what kind of mineral the kidney stone itself is made of. The kidney stones usually need to be about 3-5 millimeters to cause such a blockage. Normally, the kidney stone will leave the body through the urine, but in some cases it can get stuck - and then it may be necessary to use pressure waves or even surgery to remove them.

What do Disney World and Kidney Stones have in common?

Yes, it was patient stories that mentioned that their kidney stones had come loose after they had taken the roller coaster, 'the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad'. One of the main attractions in Disney World. The researchers thus got the idea to simulate how this could work by making an artificial kidney with kidney stones - before they then ran the roller coaster 20 times. After each trip, they analyzed what had happened to the kidney stone in the artificial kidney. Did anyone say that it sounds boring to be a researcher?

The effect was dependent on where the car was put

If you sat at the back of the roller coaster, it led to a natural kidney stone solution in 63.89 percent of the cases. In comparison, this figure was only 16.67 percent if you sat in front of the carriage - regardless of the size or location of the kidney stone.

How do the kidney stones come loose?

The researchers explained this phenomenon by the fact that the powerful and random forces of the roller coaster slung the body this way and that - which led to the kidney stones gradually loosening and then being naturally carried away from the area they blocked and into the ureters. The study also concludes that such pleasure can actually act as a preventive measure against kidney stones - so maybe you should listen to the little ones and take another trip Daisy?
