Study: Q10 Can Reduce 'Fibromyalgia Headache'

There is still a lot of uncertainty about the chronic disorder Fibromyalgia - but here is at least some good news for those affected by 'Fibromyalgia headache'. Namely, it is found that low values of coenzyme Q10 and high levels of oxidative stress. What's so positive about that, you ask? Indeed, a study published in the research journal PLoS One has shown that treatment with this coenzyme resulted in a marked decrease in both headaches and clinical symptoms.

More focus should be placed on research aimed at a condition that affects so many - and which so little is known about - that's why we encourage you to share this article on social media, preferably via our Facebook page and say, "Yes to more fibromyalgia research". In this way one can make the 'invisible disease' more visible.

This underlines what research already knows - that oxidative stress (inflammatory reactions and free radicals) play a role in Fibromyalgia pain syndrome. Previously, they have also seen that LDN (Low-dose Naltrexone) may play a future role in the treatment of symptoms.

What is Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a medical condition that is characterized by chronic, widespread pain and increased pressure sensitivity in the skin and muscles. Fibromyalgia is a very functional condition. It is also very common for the person to suffer from fatigue, sleep problems and memory problems.

Symptoms can vary greatly, but characteristic symptoms are significant pain and burning pain in the muscles, muscle attachments and around the joints. It is classified as one rheumatic disorder. The cause of fibromyalgia is unknown, but recent studies have suggested that it may be epigenetics and genes that cause a malfunction in the brain. It is estimated that as many as 100000 are affected by fibromyalgia in Norway - according to figures from the Norwegian Fibromyalgia Association.

The structure of the study

The researchers measured oxidative stress and biochemical markers in the blood of patients affected by fibromyalgia and compared it to a control group of people who did not have the disorder. They then evaluated the effect of adding the coenzyme Q10 to see if this played a role in relieving and reducing known symptoms due to fibromyalgia - including what is called fibromyalgia headaches.

The effect was measured via known forms such as 'Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ)', 'visual analogues scales (VAS)', and 'the Headache Impact Test (HIT-6)'. These are tests and forms used to evaluate the pain picture and symptoms of people suffering from fibromyalgia and chronic pain.

Study results

The research study found that those affected by Fibromyalgia had reduced levels of Q10, catalase and ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate). Furthermore, a clear association was found between the administration of Q10 and reduced clinical symptoms and a lower incidence of headaches. Unfortunately, the study is relatively small based on participants, but it certainly suggests that one can be in something when linking Q10 to the treatment of symptoms of 'fibromyalgia headache'.

How to relieve fibromyalgia headaches?

Walking around with a headache is tiring. For faster relief of the symptoms, we recommend that you lie down with a so-called "migraine mask»Over the eyes (mask that one has in the freezer and which is specially adapted to relieve migraine, neck headache and fibromyalgia headache) - this will reduce some of the pain signals and calm some of your tension. Click on the image or link below to read more about it.

For long-term improvement, regular use is also recommended trigger point balls towards tense muscles (you know you have some!) and training, as well as customized stretching. Exercise in a hot water pool is also recommended.

What can I do even against pain in muscles, nerves and joints?

1. General exercise, specific exercise, stretching and activity are recommended, but stay within the pain limit. Two walks a day of 20-40 minutes make good for the whole body and sore muscles.

2. Trigger point / massage balls we strongly recommend - they come in different sizes so you can hit well even on all parts of the body. There is no better self help than this! We recommend the following (click the image below) - which is a complete set of 5 trigger point / massage balls in different sizes:

3. Training: Specific training with training tricks of various opponents (such as this complete set of 6 knits of different resistance) can help you train strength and function. Knit training often involves more specific training, which in turn can lead to more effective injury prevention and pain reduction.

4. Pain Relief - Cooling: Biofreeze is a natural product that can relieve pain by cooling the area gently. Cooling is especially recommended when the pain is very severe. When they have calmed down then heat treatment is recommended - it is therefore advisable to have both cooling and heating available.

5. Pain Relief - Heating: Warming up tight muscles can increase blood circulation and reduce pain. We recommend the following reusable hot / cold gasket (click here to read more about it) - which can be used both for cooling (can be frozen) and for heating (can be heated in the microwave).

6. Prevention and healing: Compression noise like that like this can increase blood circulation to the affected area, thereby speeding up the natural healing of injured or worn muscles and tendons.
