There are very strange diagnoses. Have you heard about Alice in Wonderland Syndrome, Kinesian restaurant condition or Leverlasting dead disease? There are real diagnoses!

 

1. Living dead disease

A diagnosis where the person through depression and mental delusions imagine that they have died and are now a wandering corpse. The condition usually worsens to a point where the person claiming that they can smell that they rot and that carnivorous larvae crawl under their skin. The latter symptom is also often present in people suffering from severe sleep deprivation or amphetamine / cocaine psychosis. Paradoxically, the feeling of being dead often gives the person a delusion that they are immortal.

2. PICA

People diagnosed with PICA have a strong urge to eat items and the like that are not food. This can be things about mud, paper, glue or clay - or even asphalt. A strange condition that often affects pregnant women and those with malnutrition on certain minerals and other nutrients. Researchers have not found a cure for this condition, but proper nutrition plays a bigger role.

3. Blue skin disease

The blue people lived in Troublesome Creek in Kentucky, USA until the late 60's. They all suffered from an extremely rare skin condition that caused too much methemoglobin. The condition gives no other symptoms or the like - only blue skin. The blue skin went from generation to generation. It is due to too high levels of methemoglobin (normally we have 1% in the blood, people who have this disease have up to 20%!)

4. Chinese restaurant syndrome

A condition caused by excessive intake of MSG (monosodium glutamate) - a supplement often used in this type of food. Symptoms range from mild to severe allergic reactions that may include shortness of breath, itching, rash and digestive problems.

5. Alice in Wonderland Syndrome

Neurological condition that affects the person's visual impression - and makes people, animals and objects perceived as significantly smaller than they really are. Things can be perceived to be far away and extremely near at the same time. For example, a dog can be interpreted to be the size of a mouse - therefore the condition is also called Lilleputt syndrome or Lilleputt hallucinations. The syndrome does not affect the muscles or function of the eye, but only the brain's interpretation of the information received from the eyes.

6. Cheese washer's lung

Lung disease caused by inhaling cheese particles from spoiled cheese. This is actually a condition that can occur even in modern times - so make sure you do not leave old cheese and rot in the fridge. The spoiled cheese particles travel down the airways and into the lungs - here the immune system starts a fight with the newly arrived guests, and the result can be fever, colds, shortness of breath and pain in the body.

7. Honeymoon Bladder

A form of urinary tract infection that can occur in women when they first begin to have sexual intercourse or by very frequent intimate intercourse - something that can happen on the honeymoon, for example, hence the name.

8. Sick building syndrome

A working syndrome that Occurs when workers work in a poorly decorated house or building. The sick building 'infects' in a way those who work in it - especially due to poor ventilation, a lot of dust and moisture. Rare disease there Muscles, ligaments, tendons and fascia gradually transform into bones. The medical name is myositis ossificans progresiva.

10. Werewolf syndrome

This syndrome leads to large amounts of abnormal hair growth all over the body. The medical name is hypertrichosis - but the media and the like have embraced werewolf syndrome due to its more dramatic effect.
